Life recreating dreams, premonitions?
This is probably something that a lot of you have experienced a lot more often than me and to a more specific level but I just wanted to ask you your opinions on it and of your own experiences.

Have you ever had any prophetic dreams? Any premonitions, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant?
I'm not talking about the feeling of deja-vu but a dream where something happened and then the next day, perhaps you had forgotten about the dream and you saw something or someone said something and you remembered the dream. And it was like your subconscious and your waking life had collided.

So strange.
In the past week ... well, actually less, I have had two dreams where specific elements of them have reoccured in my life. Just small fragments of the dreams where they seem to be re-enacted in my life, but not things that I do, but what other people do. I know it probably sounds like deja-vu but it's not, it feels totally different.
With deja-vu you do/say something and then as soon as you have done it you 'remember' what you have just done from a previous point in time, though you have no idea where you have this original 'memory' from, though it has been said that this is merely a funny connection in the brain and you are not remembering anything, it's just a chemical reaction or somehting. Anyway, I'm not here to question deja-vu and it's origins and whether it's prophecy.
With the kind of reoccurences I've had I see something/hear something someone has said and I then remember the dream almost exactly, like a flash. The dreams are a little different to what happens in real life, with the dreams they aren't the same as normal life, but the central scene, as it were, is exactly the same as in life.
My dreams are normally very strange and far-fetched and generally nothing mundane happens so the parts that then reoccur in real life are quite out of place.
I haven't dreamt of anything significant and had it happen yet so at the moment they are just funny little moments, though nothing that normally happens every day in my life. They are both not standard things to happen in either my dream life nor my waking life, so that is why they stick out and seem the more strange.
The nearest thing to this that has happened to me is deja-vu, which used to happen to me a lot but never any dreams that have been a premonition, as it were, of real life.

What do you think? Do you have things like this happen to you often?

Only recently I've been experiencing just like what you have. At first I thought was deja-vu, like I usually had, but it felt different, and it was dreams that flashed in my mind instead of memories.

So I'm not going mad? Phew, good. At least someone else has had the same thing happen.
I used to get deja-vu all the time but I actually haven't had it in years.

I don't usually have dreams where I re-experience things in my waking time, except for past life flash backs that help me to understand the fears I have in this life time. My dreams usually consist of A) past life flash backs
b) Preminitions (which two have come true so far) c) spirit communication/visits
d) really weird dreams that make no sense lol.
Weirdest thing I had was I shared a dream with a friend. She dreamt she was in an old house(she had this dream 3 times) an old victorian house with dark wood panels and a female entity(older woman with long white hair)and the house was full of kids. I dreamt of the same house, but i was one of the children there and I saw the same old woman.

That's interesting.
My dreams are mainly d. though they often contain some meaning, though it varies as to how much is nonsense and how much is meaning.
I've never had any past life flash backs, as far as I can tell. Nor have I had any spirit visits :/
How amazing to have a shared dream, are you/were you really close friends?
Have you ever had any of your dreams analysed?

We are pretty close friends, she is 15 years older then me but I feel like we are sisters. We have gone to psychics together and have been told we are sisters(spirit sisters)and I have often had dreams where I have been shown things that are of signifigance to her.
The only time I had my dreams analysed to some extent was when I had a psychic over. She marvaled at all my art work ,native artifacts and my knowledge of herbology. She said this came so natural to me because I had many past lives being a shaman or part of tribe. I told her about my dreams and she told me they were flash backs my past lives, apparently I'm a very old soul.
One thing that has helped me is to ask Spirit before i go to sleep to help me remember...this may help you remember your past lives.

It's happened to me, but very rarely. Most of the time my dreams just make no sense, though I've dreamt about weddings over and over again during the past month.

Yes, I do have things like that happen to me. I have prophetic dreams all the time. I do not think it is unusual. Sometimes, my dream premonitions are more symbolic. Other times, they are not symbolic at all and like a movie. I have had clairvoyant and clairaudient dreams since before the age of five.

Since the age of 14, I have had premonitions without even dreaming. If I close my eyes, sometimes pictures will flash before my eyes or roll like a moving picture. Sometimes they are in the color sepia like an old photo and other times they are very colorful. The images I see are not connected to my thoughts and they are not day dreams. It is almost like my eyes are a projection screen. Sometimes there are flashes of images almost like a fireworks display and other times it is like watching a movie.

My less significant premonitions usually have to do with the weather or moon cycles. Sometimes, I will dream about rain, or the color and shape of the moon. Sometimes, I am better at predicting the weather than the weather man. :)

I was just reading back over my post because I've had more prophetic dreams and another more significant dream and I was wondering how I could find out how to further my abilities and look into maybe why I have them. Anyway, reading your reply again I'm very intrigued, you have such an amazing gift and you've had it for most of your life, have you ever been to see anyone or done anything specifically to improve your talents?

Thank you. :D I have little control over my premonitions or dreams. I cannot talk to someone, or receive information about them right on the spot. Although, I am very intuitive and sensitive to others feelings and energies. I would like to learn how to use my ability to help other people and myself, but I never seem to have any time to do anything that I want to do anymore.

I have read that through meditation and spiritual awareness that clairvoyant abilities can be enhanced, which I think is probably true, because when I am in a very relaxed state I seem to have more premonitions/clairvoyant/clairaudient experiences.

Scientifically, I think there is a part of the brain that triggers premonitions and prophetic dreams. I think of clairvoyance as a sort of "survival device," which both animals and humans both have. I believe early humans might have relied on it more heavily. Somehow as life got easier for humans, humans lost connection with that, but we all still have that part of the brain, which can be triggered. I think that's why studies say that children have more clairvoyant experiences than adults. It is something that we are all born with, but as we get older we lose it as it is no longer needed as much. My opinion is that children have less communication skills and do not have the reasoning ability that adults do. So, children are more apt to exercise whatever part of the brain that causes psychic experiences.

The problem is that there is no real scientific explanation for it as of now, because there is no way to test something like that scientifically. Even those with heightened clairvoyant abilities cannot be tested scientifically, because their experiences do not happen frequently and consistently. Also, we know so very little about the brain and its capabilities. I think that makes it difficult to really pinpoint what a person can actually do to improve and stimulate his/her abilities. If we knew more about the brain, we would know more about how to exercise that particular area of the brain. Though, I think meditation seems to be in most cases a successful form of exercise.
